“Titanic: Blood and Steel”, television mini-series set to air in 2012, stars Chris Noth (and a very impressive walrus-like ‘tache) as J.P. Morgan, Kevin Zegers (doing a very good Tobey Maguire impression) and Neve Campbell who plays Joanne, a reporter, who are all pictured below at a photocall held at Howth Castle in Dublin Ireland. I had no idea this was even in production. I can only imagine the producers wanted to capitalize on the fact that a. 2012 will be the 100 year anniversary of both Titanic’s maiden voyage and her sinking b. James Cameron’s Titanic is set to be rereleased in 3D next year to coincide with those milestones as well.
The mini-series plays out over twelve episodes and is currently still in production in Northern Ireland and Serbia. It deals with a time period before the famous ship ever set sail. It details how the luxury liner was built in Belfast by the White Star Lines over a period of 15 years from 1897- 1912, and at a cost of 105 lives.
Directed by Ciaran Donnelly, best known for “The Tudors” and “Camelot”, “Titanic: Blood and Steel” also stars Liam Cunningham, Ophelia Lovibond and Derek Jacobi as Lord William Pirrie, whose company was responsible for the construction of the ship. It doesn’t have distribution yet, but I’m betting that’s what the photocall was for; to drum up some interest. It sounds good. We’ll keep you posted.
